Both the American Poultry Association (APA) and the American Bantam Association (ABA) have the following requirements:
- Rumpless
- Tufts of feathers protruding from each side (the penducle) of the head/neck
AMERICAN POULTRY ASSOCIATION (APA)
Class: AOSB – All Other Standard Breed
Comb: Pea comb. Medium-sized, having three ridges running vertically from the top of the beak to the top of the head. The middle ridge is higher than the sides.
Legs: All recognized colors of large fowl Araucanas should have willow legs, except for the varieties of white and black which should have yellow and black respectively.
Weight:
- Cock – 5 lbs
- Hen 4 lbs
- Cockerel 4 lbs
- Pullet 3.5 lbs
Disqualifications:
- Lack of ear-tufts
- Comb other than Pea
- Rudimentary presence of tail
- Stubs or feathers on their shank
- More or less than four toes
- White skin
- Eggs other than blue
AMERICAN BANTAM ASSOCIATION (ABA)
Class: AOCC – All Other Comb Clean Leg
Legs: All recognized varieties of bantam Araucanas, except blue and white should have willow colored legs. Black Araucanas though do have willow to black as acceptable shank and toe color.

- Cock – 28 oz
- Hen 26 oz
- Cockerel 26 oz
- Pullet 24 oz
Disqualifications:
- Absence of one or both ear tufts
- Rudimentary tail
- Eggs other than blue
- Presence of beard or muffs
- White skin
