MALE AND FEMALE COLORING

Comb, Face, Wattles, and Ear-Lobes: Bright red.

Beak: Horn Colored (pale grey color)

Eyes: Bay Colored (reddish brown) .  Bright and Clear.

Shanks and Toes: Black to Dark Willow and Clean.

  • The chick pictured has yellow skin , which is what the underneath of a black bird should have.
  • The willow color will come over that. If you look closely at the mid shank you will see that it the willow is  starting to appear.  Eventually, the chick maybe like the  pictured adults with  the correct dark willow shanks.  If shown, the bird will be judged as to how close he comes to the standard of either the APA or ABA.
  • Toes should be straight.

Feather Color:  Black with a green sheen.

Overall demeanor:  Alert.

Females must lay a blue egg.  Both sexes must be double tufted.
